Privacy Policy

ThreadCave ("the App") lets you save and tag Threads posts via the share function on Android and iOS. We take your privacy seriously. This page explains what data the App collects, how it is used, and how it is stored.

1. What we store

2. Google Sign-In, Google Drive backup & sync (optional)

The App offers optional features to back up your data and keep your devices in sync through your own Google Drive. When you turn them on:

Sync notifications (Android)

So that your other devices know when new changes are ready, the Android App stores a small amount of information about your devices on Google Firebase, which we operate: a Firebase account record linked to your Google sign-in (including your email address), a random device ID, the device's push-notification code, and when it was last active. This never includes your posts, tags, or backup content, which only ever go to your own Google Drive. The iOS App does not use this.

3. What we don't do

4. Anonymous analytics

Website. This website (threadcave.com) uses Google Analytics 4 to collect anonymous usage statistics (such as page views, approximate region, and referral source) to understand how the site is used.

App. The App uses Firebase Analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase) to collect anonymous usage data, such as which features are used and general settings (for example whether Pro is active, whether sync is on, the theme and app language, and the approximate size range of your collection), together with standard device information that Firebase collects automatically, such as app version, operating system, device model, and approximate region. By design, we do not send the text of your posts, post URLs, author names, tag names, search text, or your email address in analytics.

This data cannot be used to identify a specific individual and is unrelated to the content of the posts and tags stored in the App.

5. Purchases

Pro subscriptions are processed by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We do not receive or store your payment card details; the stores only tell the App whether your subscription is active.

6. Deleting your data

You can delete individual posts or tags in the App at any time, or uninstall the App to remove everything stored on your device. If you turned on backup or sync, you can revoke the App's access at any time from your Google Account permissions page. Your backup and sync files stay in the "ThreadCave" folder in your Google Drive until you delete that folder yourself.
